The Law Enforcement Support Group of Southwestern PA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting law enforcement agencies and officers throughout six Southwestern Pennsylvania counties by helping meet the real-world needs of the departments and officers who serve our communities. This support may include training opportunities, equipment and supplies, officer wellness resources, community outreach programs, and assistance with projects or needs that smaller departments may not have the time, funding, or personnel to address on their own.
We understand that no two departments have the same needs, every law enforcement agency is different. Some need training opportunities, some need equipment or supplies, and others simply need an extra set of hands to help accomplish a project or connect them with valuable resources. Whether it's supporting officer wellness initiatives, assisting with community outreach programs, helping fund training, providing needed supplies, or tackling the countless small needs that can fall through the cracks—especially in smaller departments—we're here to help strengthen both law enforcement and the communities they serve.
What happens when law enforcement is not supported and the thin blue line crumbles?
Will the bad guys stop being bad and become civil and honorable ?
We’ve already seen the results of cities where they can’t hire and maintain enough officers to keep citizens safe. Why is that? Because of a culture that doesn’t support them or believe in what they’re doing and that lack of support becomes evident.
While things like budget, morale, leadership, available resources, and city councils are out of our control, we can do some things to make a difference in our corner of Southwestern PA. The Law Enforcement Support Group was born out of that desire.
- Scott Goetz – Executive director and founder
At the Law Enforcement Support Group of Southwestern Pennsylvania, we believe law enforcement is one of the most demanding professions. Our mission is to positively impact law enforcement and the law enforcement community by working alongside departments and personnel, identifying their needs, responding to requests and proactively developing solutions based on analysis and trends.

We put together trainings such as DT or host classes like ILEE.
We've either taught or organized:
- Intro to Grappling
- Paid for PPCT GAGE Instructors
- DT with Pgh FBI DT instructors
- Knife defense
- ILEE High Risk Traffic Stop classes
- MPOETC required DT classes.
- Hosted Monadnock Baton training
-Offered scholarships to Calibre Press seminars
We also support and promote other organizations when they are offering training

We have been able to
- Donate dog food to K-9 officers having budgetary issues
- Training pads for conducting DT classes

- Spotlight for patrol car

Soft support is aimed more at the officers directly or not easily categorizable.
We have been able to:
- provide over 50 copies of the book Emotional Survival for Law Enforcement.
- buy lunch for officers attending training
- assisted with getting the Boro and Township Police Association website back up
- provide training gloves, knives and red gun for officers attending DT classes
- assisted with research and provided information on Incident Reporting Software for dept who software was about to expire.
- researched some Critical Incident Training ( mental health crisis ) in the Pgh area for depts to engage with.
For Cops, By Cops
We created the initative of For Cops By Cops where officers with street experience would be given a platform to informally teach on subjects they're knowledgeable about.
LE Training Facebook group
We've created a closed, Facebook group dedicated to training activities in the southwestern PA area. Many times information doesn't always filter down to the officers so this is one method to help spread the word of training events.
